Life-changing Chippewa County car accident leaves one dead, two injured

A life was lost, and two more were altered forever when a three-car accident occurred on State Highway 29 near Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, on August 19, 2023.

The accident, which occurred around 5:15 p.m., involved a semi-truck, a pickup truck, and a sedan. According to the Wisconsin State Patrol, the semi-truck was traveling southbound on Highway 29 when it crossed the center line and struck the pickup truck head-on. The sedan, which was behind the pickup truck, was also struck.

The driver of the pickup truck, 52-year-old John Doe, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the semi-truck, 35-year-old Jane Doe, and the driver of the sedan, 23-year-old Mary Doe, were both transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. They are both expected to survive.

The accident is still under investigation, but authorities believe that speed may have been a factor. The Wisconsin State Patrol is asking anyone who witnessed the accident to contact them.
