PHILADELPHIA - Wastewater shows an increase in Covid viral levels across the region, according to the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The CDC acknowledged the increase after Bloomberg reported that a third of the nation's wastewater treatment plants were showing increases of the virus, suggesting a coming rise in cases.
One of the major indicators is the level of the virus in wastewater, which has shown an increase in COVID-19 viral levels. The Wastewater Viral Activity Level shows changes in SARS-CoV-2 virus levels in wastewater compared to the baseline level for that location.
Wastewater testing captures the rise and fall of novel coronavirus cases in a mid-sized metropolitan region.
