Candidates Plans For Londons Future Debated

Sadiq Khan Denies Plans for Pay-Per-Mile Charge in London

Candidates' Plans for London's Future Debated

Mayoral Candidates Face Off on Key Issues

London Mayor Sadiq Khan has denied plans to introduce a new pay-per-mile charge in the city, following criticism from his rivals during a mayoral debate on Thursday night. The debate, hosted by ITV News London, saw Khan face questions from viewers on a range of issues, including his track record as mayor.

Khan's opponents, Susan Hall of the Conservatives, Luisa Porritt of the Liberal Democrats, and Sian Berry of the Green Party, all accused him of failing to deliver on his promises to improve London's housing, transport, and environment.

However, Khan defended his record, saying that he had made progress on all three issues. He pointed to his investment in affordable housing, his expansion of the city's transport network, and his introduction of measures to reduce air pollution.

The debate also saw the candidates discuss their plans for London's future. Khan pledged to continue investing in affordable housing, public transport, and green spaces. Hall promised to cut taxes and regulation, while Porritt vowed to make London a "greener, fairer, and more prosperous city." Berry pledged to tackle the climate crisis and make London a "city for all."

The mayoral election will be held on May 5th, 2024. Voters will have the opportunity to choose between Khan, Hall, Porritt, Berry, and other candidates.
