Ollie Watkins hat-trick inspires Villa to remarkable victory

Aston Villa produced a stunning performance to thrash Liverpool 7-2 at Villa Park on Sunday. Ollie Watkins scored a perfect hat-trick, while Harvey Elliott and Douglas Luiz also netted for the hosts.

Liverpool took the lead through Mohamed Salah in the fifth minute, but Villa hit back with three goals in quick succession. Watkins leveled the scores in the 14th minute, before Elliott put Villa ahead with a stunning free-kick in the 22nd minute.

Watkins then made it 3-1 in the 39th minute, before Salah pulled a goal back for Liverpool just before half-time.

Villa continued to dominate after the break, with Luiz making it 4-2 in the 59th minute. Watkins then completed his hat-trick in the 62nd minute, before Leon Bailey added a late seventh for the hosts.

The victory moves Villa up to second place in the Premier League, while Liverpool remains in seventh place.
